TIPS FOR ORGANIZING YOUR
GRADEBOOK AND LESSON PLANNER

Alphabetize by First Name 3-Ring Binder

Alphabetize by First Name

bullet

If you think of students by their first names, not their last, try this. Write the students' names in your gradebook by FIRST name. If you need to have the students organized by last name for a computer gradebook, see if it will let you change the numerical order. If you plan on using a number system, you can also have the students line up in alphabetical order by FIRST name and then number off.

3-Ring Binder

bullet

If you keep your gradebook on a computer, hole-punch the printouts and put them in a binder. Depending on what type of reports you print out, you can organize it according to class, subject, or student. Be sure to put the most recent reports on top.

bullet

Tear out the pages of your lesson planner, hole-punch them and put them in a binder. Add paper between the pages for additional notes. You can organize the binder by date or unit. You can also put in masters of worksheets or handouts so you have them handy.
