HERE COME THE ALIENS by Colin McNaughton
This lesson serves as a short introduction of the science fiction genre. The lesson can be expanded if you want it to be more than an introduction.
Overview: In this lesson, students will become familiar with the characteristics of science fiction after listening to the picture book Here Come the Aliens by Colin McNaughton. Procedure:
Closure: Review the elements of science fiction and have the students give examples of books or movies that are science fiction. Discuss the scientific element in each example. Extension: Give each student a copy of a book order and have them identify the books that are science fiction. They will need to use the descriptions and the illustrations.
