PEER RESPONSE SHEET FOR
WRITING CONVENTIONS

Below is a version of the peer response sheet I have my students use when reading another student's paper for writing conventions. I have changed the format to fit the confines of this web page. I usually have a line in front of each statement and one in the middle so that students can mark a particular item as being a strength, in the middle, or a weakness.

DIRECTIONS: Circle what you believe to be the correct response to the paper.

Correct spelling OR Some spelling is incorrect OR Several words are spelled incorrectly

Correct punctuation OR Some punctuation is incorrect or missing OR Several punctuation errors

Correct capitalization OR Some capitalization is incorrect or missing OR Several capitalization errors

Correct grammar/usage OR Some grammatical/usage errors OR Several grammatical/usage errors

Good paragraphing OR Some paragraphing is missing or wrong places OR Several errors in paragraphing

Easy to read OR Some errors make it difficult to read OR Several errors make it very difficult to read

Please remember that handwriting, although important, is not a factor in writing conventions.
