THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURECut out several pictures from magazines and laminate them on cardstock or construction paper. Be sure to choose pictures that seem to have a story to be told. Also, be sure to make plenty so that each person or group may have a picture and there will still be some left over for trading. Give the students ten to fifteen minutes to brainstorm ideas on paper. Then have them write a story based on the picture. If a student (or group) gets stuck, allow him (or them) to trade for another picture. Allow only one trade per student or group. Have the students display the pictures with their stories.
