GRAMMAR SKILLS NECESSARY FOR SENTENCE FLUENCY

The grammar skills listed below are the ones I consider necessary to teach students to encourage good sentence fluency.    You will find these skills in most grammar textbooks.  I hope to add ideas for each skill in the near future.

Sentence structures -- simple, compound, complex, compound-complex (also including how to combine sentences)

Independent and dependent clauses

Subordinating conjunctions and adverb clauses

Relative pronouns and adjective clauses

Action verbs, direct objects, and indirect objects

bullet

Linking verbs and subject complements
